Coca-Cola Drikker Norway makes 100 million NOK investment in high tech warehouse solution from Finland

The Coca-Cola Company’s Norwegian bottling plant (Coca-Cola Drikker Norway) is now investing in one of Norway’s most modern warehouse systems. The fully automated warehousing system will increase the warehouse capacity from 10.000 to 20.000 pallets, and is estimated to 100 million Norwegian kroners (NOK). The objective for the project is to increase the efficiency and the capacity in order to meet an increasingly demanding market situation in Norway.

This month Coca-Cola Drikker Norway starts a 12 month construction phase. The 10.000 pallet warehouse will double its capacity. Managing director Leif Atle Viken is in no doubt with regards to the need of making the 100 million NOK investment:

- The purpose of this project is to double our warehousing capacity. In addition our efficiency increases at the same time we are becoming more flexible with regards to future product innovation and package diversity.

The Finnish company Actiw Oy is the selected contractor. Actiw Oy’s CEO Reijo Viinonen says that the project will be both demanding and challenging. The customer’s demands of maximized utilisation of the existing warehouse with a high handling capacity is a perfect fit for the features of Actiw technology.  He underlines they have experience of similar phased deliveries in operating warehouse environment:

- Coca-Cola Drikker AS has chosen a state-of-the-art fully automated and three dimensional warehousing system for pallets. This is actually one of the most comprehensive warehouse contracts we have had ever, and we are looking forward to starting working on this exciting challenge in close cooperation with the customer.

In order to ensure a normal logistical situation during the restructuring Coca-Cola Drikker Norway is renting an extra warehouse situated 10 kilometers from the plant, and Leif Atle Viken underlines that he expects a normal delivery situation for the company’s customers:

- Our objective is that our customers will not be influenced by the restructuring during the 12 month period, and I feel confident that we will achieve that, he underlines.
